The Northstar Story

John and Shannon Velsor spent five years as youth pastors in Chicago, Illinois. They saw God do great things in their ministry, growing it from 30 students to nearly 200 weekly.  They also saw numerous young people raised up into full time ministry. 

Early in 2010, God placed a dream in their hearts to plant a church in Minnesota, Shannon’s home state. They relocated, started talking to friends and family about their future church, and before they knew it, their dream became a reality.

John and Shannon know their years in Chicago combined with their current stage of life have been God's perfect way of preparing them to plant Northstar. They have a heart to be multi-generational, multi-cultural and multi-fun.  They are amazed at what God is doing in Northstar Community Church, and look forward to watching God work in miraculous ways in the future.
